Buck Ruxton 1935…A landmark case for forensics!

Steve. Great content. Have you ever done anything on Ethel Major. I have seen the condemned cell at Hull.( of course it’s just a water cupboard now) but I’ve seen the inside of d- wing and where it happened.

Excellent as always Steve. Tragic and probably really not his fault. Traumatic brain injuries can cause huge personality changes. Reminds me of the case of Phineas Gage. The guy who survived a rod blown through his brain.

    Great work as ever, Steve.

Justice was served, what a shame we cannot even get a real Life Sentence for even double killers now!

  • @robertkimber822 July 3, 2024

A very sad story, expertly told. Thank you, Steve!

  • another fascinating case Steve..I think the fact he telephoned the police meant he knew what he had done….i wonder what the argument with his wife was actually about ??…..

Could you please research the murder of a old woman shop keeper in Pontefract, West Yorkshire in the early 1900s which lead to the offender being put to death in armley jail please

My mother was a toddler when this happened. She lived a few streets away and for years after, children in Birkenhead were told to behave or Lock Ah Tam will get them

Hi Steve. First of all I love your videos. Could you consider covering the case of William Meffin from Derby who murdered his stepdaughter in the 1940s. My mother worked with William and she told me the story of love and jealousy. Thanks. Sandra

The verdict and outcome was correct in my opinion.

There was no mention of a sporting or functional need for this man to possess a shotgun, this says there was more to his character than the charitable entrepreneur.

Would you do Scottish cases in the future ? There is not much existing documentary covering them as compared to English and Welsh cases. For example, there is not much details available for the two last executions in Scotland of Anthony Miller and Henry Burnett. The latter got the death sentence under Homicide Act 1957 because a firearm was involved. I'm not Scottish. Just interested in those cases.

I have seen the family grave in Flaybrick cemetery but I didn’t know the story it’s a shame he couldn’t be laid to rest with them . Thank you it was very interesting ❤

    Steve,

Thanks for an interesting series concerning the use of capital punishment. In most of your well presented videos, you gave details of the length of drop selected by the executioner to impart death in your narrative. I’ve noticed that this was absent in this video and few others.

Thanks again for the informative videos.

In the film Piepoint he hung his mate. Is this true If so can you do something about it please ?

  • @gregscally5119 July 3, 2024

This is a simple and straightforward case of domestic violence. The father/husband had been terrorising his wife and daughters for some years. Nowadays, when these domestic violence killers destroy their families they usually also then shoot themselves. Of course, in the mid 1920s domestic violence did not exist did it?
