Rebecca Joynes, a 30-year-old teacher, has made headlines for falling pregnant by a teenage boy and allegedly having sex with another teen boy, whom she reportedly groomed by buying an expensive belt. Joynes was spotted with a pink baby bonnet tucked into her trousers as she arrived at court, supported by her father. The father of her unborn child, known as Boy B, was impregnated while she was on bail over allegations of sexual activity with Boy A. Joynes denies two counts of sexual activity with Boy A, two counts with Boy B, and two counts with Boy B while in a position of trust.
Accusations arose during the trial that Joynes initiated sexual encounters with the boys, including an incident where she bought Boy B a £345 Gucci designer belt. According to court transcripts, Boy A told police that they engaged in sexual activity in Joynes’ flat in Salford Quays after a trip to the Trafford Center. The police asked Boy A about his expectations, to which he replied with uncertainty but admitted to being attracted to Joynes due to her physical appearance.
Photographic evidence shows Joynes arriving at court with a baby bonnet tucked into her trousers and being cuddled by her father. Witnesses also claimed to see her with a similar pink item of clothing on a previous court date. Boy A revealed that during their encounter, Joynes undressed and warned him to keep their activities a secret. The encounter allegedly involved oral sex and Joynes asking Boy A how he wanted to proceed, eventually ending up on all fours on the bed.
An investigation was launched following accusations of Joynes’s inappropriate relationships with teenage boys. She was released on bail with the condition of no unsupervised contact with individuals under 18. However, authorities later discovered her involvement in a long-term sexual relationship with another teenage boy while she was suspended. The case has raised concerns about the grooming and abuse of power by individuals in positions of authority, prompting a closer examination of safeguarding measures in schools and other educational settings. The trial continues to unfold as evidence is presented in court.
