The fall of IRISH GANGSTER GERRY “THE MONKK” HUTCH
Today we take a look at one of Ireland’s most enigmatic criminals.
He is staunchly anti-drugs, seemingly an admirable trait, but don’t be mistaken, he has been involved in almost every other type of criminality, and may have evaded a murder conviction due to his friendships within the group that oversee the Irish police.
Gerry Hutch, known by his nickname, “The Monk,” was born on April 11th, 1963, in Dublin, Ireland.
Raised in the inner-city neighborhood of Dublin’s North Wall, a working-class area plagued by poverty and crime, Hutch’s early life was shaped by the harsh realities of his environment.
The youngest of five children, he was brought up in a household that struggled to make ends meet.
His nickname, “The Monk,” was earned due to his relatively reserved nature and aversion to drugs, which set him apart from many of his peers.
Hutch’s foray into the criminal world began at a young age.
By his teens, he had fallen in with a local youth gang, referred to by the media as the Bugsy Malones, named after the famous gangster film.
This gang was mainly involved in petty crimes.
They committed a few ‘jump-overs’, lightning fast robberies of small banks and businesses, jumping over counters, grabbing cash and running.
