Throughout the Second World War, there were many executions carried out upon Allied soldiers who were suspected of being ‘Commando’ soldiers. Hitler issued his infamous ‘Commando Order’ which stated that any captured soldier suspected of being a commando were to be executed without any trial or questions asked. This led to a huge number of war crimes as these British, American and Allied soldiers should have been given Prisoner of War status. The majority of them were executed being shot, but some were condemned in other harrowing ways.
