January 20 marked a pivotal moment in Germany as an inquest revealed that Pope Benedict was aware of child abuse by priests but chose inaction.

In the United States, the tide is turning with an increase in cases against the Catholic Church for child sex abuse.

While Pope Francis pledges “decisive action” and support for reporting allegations, advocates for survivors point fingers at the church and its lobbyists for obstructing laws that could empower more victims to speak up. They accuse the institution of resisting the release of crucial documents.

    I'd like the thank the Vatican for holding on to My Wealth and Knowledge. I will be showing you all how to be charitable with all of MY wealth. The Catholic Church will be Resurrected.     The fact of the matter is that the enemies of the church have infiltrated the seminaries. Only a miracle can eradicate the diabolical infestation. This kind of thing doesn't happen unless then men responsible for letting these men into the priesthood are complicit.

    they use the statute of limitations as a too and when in doubt silence comes their greatest tool through covering up incidents to moving priests around to avoid detection to blatant denial of it ever happening

    As a catholic gay man that was abused by my priest and my boy scouts of America scout master I find this appalling. Nothing has been done after decades of covering up and using the bankruptcy system to get out of paying sexual abuse claims. Disgusting and Shameful that our lifetime career politicians and the justices on the SCOTUS have refused to hold these men accountable. So disappointed in my country for letting this happen to so many children.

    — in the public school system of the US.

    11.9% of students in the US since 2021 report being subject to some form of sexual abuse at school.

    There have been many cases of sexual abuse of children by priests, nuns, and other members of religious life in the Catholic Church. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the cases involved many allegations, investigations, trials, convictions, acknowledgment, and apologies by Church authorities, and revelations about decades of instances of abuse and attempts by Church officials to cover them up. The abused include mostly boys but also girls, some as young as three years old, with the majority between the ages of 11 and 14. Criminal cases for the most part do not cover sexual harassment of adults. The accusations of abuse and cover-ups began to receive public attention during the late 1980s. Many of these cases allege decades of abuse, frequently made by adults or older youths years after the abuse occurred. CASES HAVE ALSO BEEN BROUGHT AGAINST MEMBERS OF THE CATHOLIC HIERARCHY WHO COVERED UP SEX ABUSE ALLEGATIONS AND MOVED ABUSIVE PRIESTS TO OTHER PARISHES, WHERE ABUSE CONTINUED. And you support this with your money, why?

    By the 1990s, the cases began to receive significant media and public attention in several countries, including Canada, the United States, Chile, Australia, Ireland, and much of Europe and South America. Pope John Paul II was criticized by representatives of the victims of clergy sexual abuse for failing to respond quickly enough to the Catholic sex abuse crisis. After decades of inaction, Sinéad O'Connor brought the scandal to a head when she tore up a photo of John Paul II on a 1992 episode of Saturday Night Live. The protest drew praise from critics of the church but also the ire of many Catholics, which greatly damaged her career and had a strong possibility of putting her life in danger. Her protest would see increased positive reappraisal as corruption and suppression efforts by the church related to abuse became more popularly known.

    ARE AMERICANS SO USED TO THE ABUSE THEY SAY NOTHING AND SUPPORT A DEMOCRATIC-CONTROLLED CHURCH SYSTEM? I wish you would fact-check how 70% of pastors and priests are ungodly Democrats. The Democrats are the ones that always cover up the sexual abuse, and this has been going on for hundreds of years. YET, YOU SUPPORT THIS SEXUAL ABUSE WITH YOUR MONEY, WHY???

    Try over 4.5 million since 1902 PLUS the times of thousands of children being taken during the spainish inquisition. Plus the 153,000+ in BC, in 1953 in unmarked graves whilst even today they are finding more unmarked graves but the Canadian government have stopped them from volunteers searching for them with ground penetrative radar systems Hmm too much shame!?. Plus the amount the Dutch, French, Belgium and the British Royal families, Took from orphanagesalong with waht the golden dawn have done in the past as well as the club of rome, as well as the jesuits and rabbis, why because they didnt have any next of kin, overlooked by the Vatican of course. So it would not come back on them…PLEASE TELL ME WHO IS THE ANTI-CHRIST AGAIN!???????????
