  • Thank god the character julia remained and Kami should've been on the US version because she's intended to promote aids awareness and all these conservatives on the internet need to stop calling HIV and AIDS a gay disease because it can happen to anyone unfortunately.

  • @hi-ww9vq June 21, 2024

    julia is so relatable 😭

  • @thedude15-sm2zu June 21, 2024

BTW, Mr. Hooper's death doesn't remain controversial today. In fact, the episode is the highest-rated episode on IMDB today.

  • @thedude15-sm2zu June 21, 2024

I like it when Sesame Street makes a stand against propaganda like they did with the whole "Pox News" debacle.

  • @RedDragonM1 June 21, 2024

The Katy Perry thing made no sense to me. If they REALLY wanted to be conterversial…they could've had her ex, Russel Brand come out and say "OI kids, I'm Russel Brand. An' I'm 'aving really barmy sex with Katy!"

  • @scottandrewhutchins June 21, 2024

There was an episode where Harvey Kneeslapper prank called an old lady from a pay phone. That had to have been controversial even though he wasn't harassing her. He just encouraged her to get up and dance.

  • @scottandrewhutchins June 21, 2024

Didn't the acknowledgement of Mr. Hooper's death win some awards like outstanding episode of a children's series?

  • @nazbaluyot9245 June 21, 2024

    People are very sensitive

  • @jonathangriffin8060 June 21, 2024

As a viewer of the earlier seasons of Sesame Street, I will never understand how the Roosevelt Franklin and the other characters from the Roosevelt Franklin Elementary School segments were seen as negative stereotypes of POC; considering the fact that the slang and the people during the early 70s were speaking in 70s slang. I enjoyed those segments a lot…especially Hard Head Henry Harris.

For many years, only Big Bird would see Snuffy because he would always leave while Big Bird went to get the others, leading everyone else to believe Snuffy was simply an imaginary friend, but after Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird, Big Bird finally succeeded in revealing Snuffy to his friends on Sesame Street

There was NOTHING wrong with Roosevelt Franklin…He was a TEACHER that I could identify with. He was not a stereotype…Just like Easy Reader wasn't a stereotype. I can only imagine WHO didn't like those characters.

  • @user-kp2zm7xg7z June 21, 2024

Death of Mr. Hooper hit me the hardest!

  • @MsDisneylandlover June 21, 2024

    Love Roosevelt ❤

  • @petersmith9785 June 21, 2024

    Roosevelt Franklin was the best!!

  • @slapshot68 June 21, 2024

They forgot one, Carlo being on the show despite being in the country illegally, he used a fake visa to get on the show

  • @LilDemonkulous June 21, 2024

Roosevelt got that Dusty Rhodes about 'im daddy

  • @LilDemonkulous June 21, 2024

I mean katy perry has tits, IN FACT the majority of women i know have em… so whats the problem?

  • @henrikharbin5521 June 21, 2024

I was 17 when Will Lee died. It didn't affect me. But as a disabled kid when I was much younger, several of my classmates died before I hit age 10. I think I might've been able to handle it.

  • @BraeMartin-sw6xk June 21, 2024

It's not always easy for kid shows to tackle issues like death. But the episode of Mr. Hooper dying is an all too real thing that even kids have to understand at one point.

  • @dimpleface2163 June 21, 2024

As for the Wicked Witch….I was actually four or five when it aired…It didn't scare me….Just like they complained about how Don Music banged his head on the piano/or how cookie monster ate cookies…I never copied that as a child……they actually took it off the air for a year in Mississippi…(the State where Jim Henson was born) because it was 'too integrated'….I'm 52 now…some people really need to get a life.

  • @kojismiles June 21, 2024

i heard that the german version of sesame street used to be dubbed when using the us version of the show in between 1973-1977 before making their own characters and there was a special live action segment where usually it’s a bunch of kids playing around and such, but the controversy is that they once showed a lady giving birth uncensored when talking about the process. and the fact that it’s a kid show is wild. i really feel bad for the german kids who witnessed that back then. those people who unconcealed the footage of this gorey birth on a literal children’s show are freaks 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

  • @user-vf4xl2dp8j June 21, 2024

I'm autistic and have no beef with julia

  • @user-kf7jn2bo1c June 21, 2024

I’m Autistic and I like loud noises

  • @christinacole7019 June 21, 2024

The most controversial moment for me was an episode that aired around 1989-1990. In the episode, there was a fire in the apartment building that Maria, Luis, Susan, and Gordon lived in on Sesame Street. The scenes that showed the fire were dark and creepy. The worst part was that they never said what caused the fire; that made me afraid of fire bursting out all the time for no reason. I was so frightened by the episode that my mom helped me write a letter to the Children's Television Workshop. They sent a reply a few months later saying they were sorry the episode disturbed me. Several years later, when my younger sibling was watching Sesame Street, there was a new episode on fire safety that was much more light-hearted and informative than the one that I had seen. That made me think that there were other kids who were frightened by the episode I saw and the Children's Television Workshop took our comments to heart.

The fact that rocko isn't even mentioned offends me.

    Rocko is plotting world domination!

  • @futuretrunks5795 June 21, 2024

Today's Sesame Street is absolute filthy trash 🗑️ and totally offensive and nothing compares to the old school 🏫 Sesame Street the way it was originally composed and conducted!

  • @futuretrunks5795 June 21, 2024

Sesame Street from my generation was so different then compared to what it is today and today's Sesame Street is absolute trash 🗑️ nowadays and none of these autistic characters existed when I was a kid over 30 years ago and Sesame Street was normal back then when I was a kid then back in the 80s then!

  • @hunteradams2123 June 21, 2024

Speaking of number 3, I've also heard that Snuffy became a Sesame Street regular because the writers ran out of ideas for the adults to miss his appearance.

  • @tyrannoyoshi June 21, 2024

I have autism, and I can confirm that there’s no way I act like Julia or any other autistic person.

  • @tanyamyers1637 June 21, 2024

I was 2 yo when The Wicked Witch was on. She was not scary at all. By then I had already seen the Wizard Of Oz.

  • @stephanieevjen June 21, 2024

Hey, WatchMojo, if you're not too busy, maybe you can make a video about the evolution of Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem in honor of the new Muppets Mayhem show coming out next month on Disney+. And maybe a Top 10 list featuring their best song covers.

  • @CXP3D June 21, 2024

Great negative stereotypes of black ppl, wow I’m not surprised. I’m proud of the ppl bein honest abt mr Hoopers death. RIP Mr H and thx for all ur work.

  • @cocoaorange1 June 21, 2024

Susan is the only original adult still living. I never knew about the controversy over Margaret Hamilton.

  • @cocoaorange1 June 21, 2024

I was a small child, but recall Roosevelt. I liked him.

  • @TheJManOrRiot June 21, 2024

These controversies seem innocent compared to today’s ones

  • @Beavis-ej3ny June 21, 2024

Is this video a test or something? The title is weird and the audio is way too quiet

  • @zuglymonster June 21, 2024

Pathetic that people in the US were more sensitive in the 2000s about an HIV positive puppet than people in other countries. Great example of how much conservatives "love freedom"

  • #1 should have been Oscar the Grouch Rips Off Donald Trump (The Grouch Apprentice episode, S36 2005). That is the worst episode that Sesame Street has ever made and is disrespectful to Trump’s creation. I thought that making parodies and ripoffs of Donald Trump was illegal now and we’re supposed to treat our American presidents and government members with respect and not be mean to them.
