WORKING TO END LGBTQ VICTIMIZATION
Miami, Florida, State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle, Dr. Besiki L. Kutateladze (FIU Dept. of Criminology and Criminal Justice), Director Alfredo Ramirez III (Miami-Dade Police Department) and Orlando Gonzales (Safeguarding American Values for Everyone/ SAVE Inc) will announce the finding of a three year study funded by a $500,000 grant from the Department of Justice . The project focuses on the hate crime victimization within Miami’s Latine LGBTQ community. The implications of this research go beyond this particular community and can help improve the criminal justice system’s responses to hate crimes motivated by victims’ race, religion, disability or other identities.
