Aid organizations and the UN have a decades-old pattern of sexual abuse and solicitation of prostitution in countries ravaged by natural disasters and conflict. VICE World News looks at these organizations that help those that are most in need, but also perpetuate a history of violence and a colonial past.

    during the Bosnia conflict all there ever was, is death. The UN and NATO peacekeepers did nothing but protect and avoiding getting hit. But in other conflicts world wide some countries sends their own but their soldiers are corrupt.

    A 1996 UN study revealed, ‘In six out of 12 country studies on sexual exploitation of children in situations of armed conflict prepared for the present report, the arrival of peacekeeping troops has been associated with a rapid rise in child prostitution.’217
    – In 2001, UN Peacekeeper Kathryn Bolkovac publicly exposed an elite underage sex trafficking operation in Bosnia involving the UN, US State Department, US Military, and DynCorp International (a global private military contractor funded by the US federal government).218
    – In 2017, investigative journalists revealed, 114 UN Peacekeepers ran a child sex ring in Haiti for a decade but were never imprisoned.

    The UN certainly had an issue with that, but there were also put a lot of measures in place to emphasize zero tolerance towards sexual exploitation and abuse over the past 15 years.
    The fight against it still continues and there are a lot of people inside a UN to ensure that the bad guys face consequences…

    "We're not going to tolerate that." — And no prosecution? How can they be "vetted" if they aren't being held accountable and protected to protect the integrity and reputation of the organization? It's not just an issue about reform or 'prevention.'

    UN civilians who get away with abuse are Hollywood movie stars. Leonardo Dicaprio, Kate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie, Elton John and many, many more. They even are able to adopt children from these countries.

    Search all countries for consent sex age laws.. Aka dumb law loop hole to target children. I just learned.
    Too many country's out there fcking children cuz of disgusting laws that make any parent like myself wanna avoid all countrys that have sex consent age limit too low! This world is scary. Too many pedophiles and dumb laws that show it helps the bad guys to keep raping diff children all over this world in many countries.

    What are these poeple even doing there other than providing food shelter and a sub par education to young children ? Are they planning to keep them in those camps forever ? Why arent they investing in infrastructure, High quality Mandatory Education and Jobs to those people in IT and Manufacturing instead ? They are keeping Africa crippled by only providing the basic means for survival. They are not allowing any scope for growth of Africa even in a remote sense.

    Human beings are capable of heinously dark & disgusting acts. They are also capable of the complete opposite. We can't assume that another person will treat us as we deserve. This is so sad that people in trouble can't even fully rely on persons sent from an agency sent in to help ppl, not abuse or exploit.

    what UN was doing in Balkans during '90 was discousting from trraficking, organised prostitution, smuggling and list goes on and on… and its not a secret but hey… they are peacekeepers on end of the day
