Tobago’s Division of Infrastructure, Quarries, and Urban Development has issued a notification to the motoring public and pedestrians regarding the commencement of infrastructural and maintenance works on the Bacolet Bridge, Claude Noel Highway. The works on the bridge, located west of the traffic light intersection, began on May 27 and are aimed at restoring the guard rails along the structure. This initiative is crucial for ensuring the safety and functionality of the bridge for all road users.
The division has highlighted that the upcoming activities will involve heavy mechanical work over the next 10 days as the team prepares for the installation process. The actual installation of the guard rails is anticipated to take a further 10 days to complete. To minimize disruptions to traffic flow during this period, the division has announced that the works will be carried out between 6 am and 7:30 am daily. This strategic scheduling aims to lessen the impact on commuters while allowing the maintenance team to efficiently carry out their tasks.
With the construction activities expected to narrow the roadway during the specified working hours, motorists are urged to exercise caution when approaching the area. It is essential for all road users to adhere to the signage and instructions provided by traffic management personnel to ensure the safety of both drivers and pedestrians. The division emphasizes the importance of vigilance and patience to navigate through the construction zone safely and prevent any potential accidents or delays.
In addition to the guard rail restoration works, the division is prioritizing the efficient and timely completion of the project to minimize inconvenience to the public. By allocating specific time slots for construction activities, the division aims to expedite the process while ensuring minimal disruption to regular traffic flow. This approach reflects a thoughtful and considerate strategy to balance the need for infrastructure maintenance with the convenience and safety of all road users.
As the maintenance works progress on the Bacolet Bridge, the division remains committed to transparent communication with the public regarding any developments or changes to the project timeline. Regular updates will be provided to keep the motoring public and pedestrians informed about the status of the works and any adjustments to the traffic management plan. This proactive approach underscores the division’s dedication to maintaining open channels of communication and promoting collaboration with the community to enhance road safety and infrastructure efficiency.
